Deep in the Whispering Woods, where the moss was soft as velvet, there stood a very special tree. It wasn't a pine tree or an oak tree. It was the Sharing Tree. Its leaves shimmered like silver coins, and its apples were pure, shiny gold.

Sid the Squirrel was the first one to find it. He scamper up the trunk—scritch, scratch, scritch—and stared at a Golden Apple. His eyes went wide. "Mine!" he chirped. "All mine!"

Sid grabbed an apple. He grabbed another. He stuffed them into his cheeks until he looked like a fuzzy balloon. "I will be the richest squirrel in the forest!" he thought. He ran to his secret hollow log to hide them.

But when he tried to put the apples in his log, they stopped glowing. They turned into dull, gray rocks. Sid was confused. "What happened?" he cried. He ran back to the tree. "Your apples are broken!"

The tree’s leaves rustled, and a warm, woody voice whispered in the wind. "I am the Sharing Tree... My magic only works... when you give it away..."

Sid scratched his head. "Give it away?" That didn't sound like fun. He liked keeping things. But just then, he saw Darcy the Deer. Darcy looked hungry and tired.

Sid looked at the Golden Apple in his paw. It was starting to turn gray. He looked at Darcy. With a tiny sigh, he held out the apple. "Here, Darcy," Sid mumbled. "You can have this."

As soon as Darcy touched the apple, WHOOSH! A burst of golden sparkles flew into the air! The apple glowed brighter than the sun. "Oh, thank you, Sid!" Darcy crunched into it. "It tastes like sunshine and honey!"

Sid felt a strange, warm feeling in his chest. It felt better than eating the apple himself. He grabbed another apple and ran to Oliver Owl. "For you, Oliver!" Sparkle, shimmer, glow! The magic was back!

Sid ran through the forest, giving apples to everyone. A shiny one for the rabbit! A glowing one for the badger! Everywhere an apple was shared, the forest lit up with golden light. The dark woods weren't dark anymore; they were a disco of kindness!

Sid sat on a branch, tired but grinning. He didn't have any apples left for himself. But then, Darcy and Oliver came back. They laid a pile of berries and nuts at Sid's feet. "We wanted to share with you, too," they said.

The Sharing Tree rustled happily above them. Sid realized the tree was right. The apples were magic, but the real treasure was the happiness he felt when he shared with his friends. And that magic never faded away.
